About us

At Barren Plains Baptist Church we don't see ourselves as people that just come together.

We see ourselves as a family. A poem by a member of our "family" puts it best.

"Ive Finally Found A Home"

by Doyle Ratliff

There was a time in my life Not so long ago,

When I became concerned about my immortal soul,

I knew I had to make a change so i set out on my search,

Trying my best to find a special kind of Church,

I wasn't looking for a building I was searching for a home,

A place to lay my burdens down and rest my weary bones,

Every home must have a family that was very important to me,

So I visited many churches Til I found the place I needed to be,

It was a beautiful little church it was a treasure that I found,

And when I walked through those doors I felt God's presence all around,

It wasn't one of those big churches where large crowds of people go,

But the people that do attend sure love their Savior so,

They welcomed us with open arms and gave us all their love,

Now there's not a day goes by that I don't thank the Lord above,

I've learned that God does his greatest work in places that are small,

In fact I heard of a mighty king that was born in a lowely stall,

And I also know of another place thats no bigger than your fist,

Where the Lord took a broken heart and healed it with a tender kiss,

The kiss that he sent to me came from people sitting here,

Who showed me there's a better way and taught me how to care,

I'm no longer a little orphan And I'll no longer have to search,

For I've finally found a home at Barren Plains Baptist Church.
